A Brief History of St. Barbara

Designed by Wilhelm Frank, the church is one of 26 built in the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart between 1964 and 1975, all following the Type Frank design.

This design, resembling a tent, symbolizes the 40 years the Israelites spent wandering the desert, with Yahweh dwelling among them in a tent. This imagery is both a nod to the past and a statement of the church's role as a refuge and guide for its community. Initially serving as the new Catholic parish church for Kochendorf, it has also been open to the Protestant community since 1984, embodying a spirit of ecumenical unity.

The painted wings, depicting St. Sebastian and St. Anthony, are believed to have originated from a different altar, possibly crafted by an apprentice of the Master of the Wimpfen Vesperbild Altar.
