The rebuilding process, completed in 1985, was both a reconstruction and a reimagining, overseen by the diocesan architect Hans Schädel. His design included a compelling depiction of the resurrected Christ above the altar, mirroring a similar piece in the Würzburg Cathedral. The new layout also introduced a slight floor incline, ensuring an unobstructed view of the altar for all congregants.
