In 1807, the church was gifted to the Brühl parish, ensuring its continued use and preservation.
During World War II, the church suffered significant damage from an aerial mine, but restoration efforts began in 1949. By 1953, the church was reopened, with its main altar and other elements carefully restored. The church's resurrection from the ruins stands as a testament to the resilience of its community and the enduring appeal of its sacred space.
In the years following the war, St. Maria von den Engeln continued to evolve. A new bronze portal, crafted by Cologne sculptor Elmar Hillebrand, was installed in 1955, adding a modern touch to the historic structure.
