The church's historical roots run deep, with an earlier votive chapel dedicated to Saint Rocco dating back to the 15th century. This chapel was annexed to the church of the San Francesco convent, reflecting a longstanding devotion that continued to evolve over the centuries.

Originally crafted in 1851 by Giovan Battista De Lorenzi, the organ has undergone various modifications by Rodolfo Guerrini in 1930, Alfredo Piccinelli in 1975, and Luciano Stradiotto in 1994. With electric transmission, the organ boasts 23 registers and two consoles, each with two keyboards and a pedalboard. In 2019, a temporary positive organ by Verschueren was installed, featuring two keyboards and a pedalboard.
