After a period of neglect, Yvonne Jean-Haffen and her husband acquired the property in 1937, breathing new life into both the house and garden.

She and her husband undertook extensive renovations, preserving the Louis-Philippe era decor while adding a stunning glass studio on the first floor. Here, Jean-Haffen created a magnificent fresco in the dining room, depicting the agricultural and maritime life of the region.
The garden became Jean-Haffen’s muse, where she spent countless hours sketching plants, flowers, and the breathtaking views of Dinan. The museum opened its doors in 1994, offering visitors a chance to explore her extensive collection of over 4,000 works, including drawings, paintings, ceramics, and more. The museum's annual rotations showcase the breadth of Jean-Haffen’s talent and her collaborations with Méheut.
In 2019, the site received the prestigious Label of Maison des Illustres from the French Ministry of Culture, recognizing its historical and cultural significance. This accolade highlights the importance of preserving spaces that tell the stories of influential figures in France’s history.
