The design, crafted by cathedral architect Manfred Erhardt, was brought to life under the supervision of local builder Helmut Popp. Construction commenced in 1991, with the first spade breaking ground on June 9th. The cornerstone was laid during the St. Otto Festival in September of that year, and by July 12, 1994, the church was consecrated in a grand ceremony led by Auxiliary Bishop Werner Radspieler.
