This building served various functions over the years, including housing a local political party office, a sports studio, and a tourist information center.
The turn of the 21st century marked a new chapter for the south side of Spremberg's marketplace. In 2002, a decision was made to completely redevelop the area. These findings prompted discussions about the future of the Bürgerhaus, with some advocating for its complete demolition due to the high costs of repair.
